As everyone knows, we are at a moment where there are lots of debates and talks about environmental issues like land degradation, water shortages and contamination, soil salinization, lost of biodiversity, climate change and so on...I think at think critical moment, as almost everyone is aware about these issues, it is time that you question yourself: “What can I do in my daily activities to maintain a wonderful and living environment for the future generation?” As a matter of fact, it’s very easy to answer to this question and everyone can contribute to the welfare of the natural environment in the way you do your daily activities (transportation, use of electricity, hobbies, food production and obviously eating).

Eating is for sure the most basic of all behaviors because none can live without it. If consider the link between eating and food production (agriculture) as quoted by Wendell Berry into his essay The Pleasure of Eating “eating is an agricultural act” we definitely need to pay more attention to what we are eating and how we are eating. As we know all the issues bound up with agriculture and nowadays, why don’t we start thinking more critically about what we are eating? We very importantly need to eat more organically, locally and reasonably in order to reduce our ecological impact and thus promote a sustainable environment. Even by buying organic food, we still need to ask the question: where is it from, How was it really produced, how many miles did it take to get where you are?  By thinking like this, the best option seems to be: eating local organic food.

How often does someone ever question about the nice and delicious dish of food he is eating at the restaurant? Do you know where it is from, how they grew it, isn’t it GM crops?  Most of the times, some people use to say that, they cannot change the situation or correct the problem alone but they never notice or put in mind that “Every single act is important” and also, by posing an action, you can have a very positive impact on someone else who might have not been really aware of the problem and by posing an action and explain it to other people, you increase awareness and you attract other people to do the same. That can have a great difference. Never say you cannot change or solve the problem by yourself.  Every single is important…

My experience at a restaurant……next blog…..keep reading…. Thanks..
